Azevedo Transportes – Steelbro Built to Last

Azevedo Transportes are located in Manaus in the Amazon rainforest region of Brazil. Azevedo Transportes are a long standing Steelbro customer, one of the first customers in Brazil to see the benefits the Steelbro Sidelifter could bring to their business.

Azevedo Transportes, is a well established company operating at the Manaus Free Trade Zone offering storage and transportation services to big brands such as: Sony, Panasonic, Honda, P&G, Yamaha, Siemens, Petrobras, LG, Electrolux, Philips, Toshiba and others.

Azevedo Tranportes are utilizing a Steelbro sidelifter to complete fast efficient container movements within their yard and to deliver containers to their customers. The Steelbro sidelifter purchased over 20 years ago is still reliably providing efficient container movements saving Azevedo Transportes both time and money.

Azevedo Transport first saw Steelbro sidelifters advertised in an international transport magazine in 1994 and realized it was a solution to their need. According to Angelo Azevedo “Manaus did not have practical equipment for handling heavy containers on the industries yards, we were limited to using other crane companies. Such companies had cranes and equipment that required a lot of operating time. Furthermore the large forklifts (toploaders, reachstackers, straddle carriers) could not get around on urban roads. Another factor in choosing the sidelifter Angelo stated “was the sidelifter was much cheaper than these big forklifts.”

Angelo is still happy with the performance of the Steelbro Sidelifter today “ Azevedo Transportes Ltda has a great pride on this equipment (sidelifter). It works very well and complements our fleet.”
